Tianjin Natural History Museum began in 1914
with its original name ¡°Musee Hoang-Ho Pai-Ho¡±. She enjoys great
prestige both at home and abroad for its age-old history, rich
collection and distinguished excellence in scientific researches and
discoveries. Specimens kept by the museum that include living beings and
geology fossil, forms 3 major characteristics. They are characterized by
its rich sources in culture, collection are rich and distinguished
scientific research discoveries. All the specimens have been gathered
together within this museum for the use in research, exhibition and

Natural History Museum includes: prolusion hall, paleontology hall
Exhibition¢ñ, paleontology Exhibition hall¢ò, aquarium Exhibition hall,
amphibious reptile Hall, animal ecological Hall, insect hall, Marine
shellfish Hall, tropical plant Hall. The exhibition shows its pecimens
in units with different themes, which is widely employed in the world. |
The exhibition focusing on ¡°earth and
life¡±, shows the varieties of the species and ecosystem; the balance
between creatures and environment, between human beings and nature.

Museum has been appraised by the experts of biology and paleontology
carefully and they all appraised that our museum was a fresh and special
one, which integrated with science, art and hi-tech, showing the new
image of modern museum.

Tianjin
Natural History Museum is an integrated one, which included animal,
plants, ores as well as paleontology and paleoanthropology. Up to now
its specimens collection of verity is the largest in the nation,
numbering over 38 million, among which more than 1000 are of the
national grade¢ñand¢ò. Most of them are the collector's item¡ªmodel
specimen. Tianjin Natural History is welcoming the friends from all
circles with its new image and good service.

| In the
interest of this legacy, the Municipal People¡¯s Government rebuilds
this museum in1997. The new museum occupies a title of 20,000 m2,
with the main building taking up 12,000m2. On the 1st of October
1998, it has opened to public. The new museum was praised by the
leaders of central Government and Municipal Government, craft
brothers from home and abroad as well as people from all circles.
The setting of the new museum was also get the praise from experts
and was rewarded by the National Cultural Relic Bureau with
¡°National Top 10 Exhibition Pith¡±. |

The new museum has modern hi-tech
equipment: there is Education hall with electrical audio-visual aids
on the third floor and lounge (the shop) on the second floor. We
also prepared guiding equipment with 3 languages to give facilities
for the foreign visitors. |
